Since fires in the area first ignited on Sunday, over 35,000 acres have been burned and tens of thousands have been evacuated. If you are like many members of our surrounding community, then you were probably forced to evacuate your home late last night or early this morning. After fires ignited in Napa and Sonoma Counties on Sunday, severe winds helped move the flames quickly – even jumping over the 101 Freeway. It’s being called the Tubbs Fire and according to the Los Angeles Times by 6:40 a.m. today as many as 35,000 acres have been burned. Diesel power isn’t new technology, but it is brand new for the redesigned 2018 Mazda CX-5 compact crossover. From the outside the 2018 CX-5 bears much of the likeness to the 2017 model. The big difference is what it’s packing under the hood in the form of a 280-hp, 2.2-liter four-cylinder Skyactiv-D turbodiesel engine. It won’t replace the 187-hp, 2.5-liter direct-injection gasoline four-cylinder engine, but will be added as a new option. But it gets even better.
